2. Description of Service
Car Vin Api provides a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) decoding API service that returns vehicle information sourced from official NHTSA data. The service includes VIN decoding, vehicle recall lookups, and batch processing endpoints. We offer both free and paid subscription tiers with varying usage limits.
3. User Accounts & API Keys
To access the API, you must register for an account and obtain an API key. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key and account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive usage patterns.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use the API to: (a) violate any applicable laws or regulations; (b) transmit harmful, offensive, or disruptive content; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer or circumvent usage limits; (d) resell or redistribute raw API access without prior written consent; or (e) use the service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the service.
5. Payments & Subscriptions
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected at signup. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of your account. Free tier usage is subject to rate limits and may be modified at any time.
6. Service Communications
By creating an account, you agree that we may contact you via the email address you provided for the following purposes: (a) transactional messages related to your account, such as API key creation, billing receipts, and security alerts; (b) service-related communications, including updates about new features, API changes, or maintenance; (c) customer experience check-ins to understand how the service is working for you and to gather feedback; and (d) support follow-ups. You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at support@carvinapi.com.
7. Data & Privacy
Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
The service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Car Vin Api and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Vehicle data sourced from NHTSA is in the public domain. You retain ownership of any applications you build using our API.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Car Vin Api shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. The service is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
12. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.
